The Beacon Group offers its entry-level Consultant position as an opportunity to learn and assess a career in strategy consulting. Within 30 to 48 months of a Consultant’s hire, a formal review is given to assess progress and future career opportunities with the firm. Top Senior Consultants who have demonstrated outstanding capabilities and a strong interest in a longer-term future at Beacon may earn a promotion to Manager.

Beacon Group Managers have an eye on both the big picture and the details. They provide intellectual leadership for project teams while ensuring that engagements meet client needs. A Manager must have excellent organizational and time management skills, with the capability of providing exceptional oral and written presentations to Beacon clients.

Top Managers who have demonstrated outstanding capabilities and a strong interest in a longer-term future at Beacon may earn promotion to Director. At 6 month intervals from the Manager’s promotion date, a formal review is given to assess progress and future career opportunities with the firm.

A Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • To perform the role of team leader, spearheading project teams comprised of Beacon consultants
  • To perform the role of project manager, overseeing all aspects of client engagements
  • To conduct research and analysis relevant to client engagements
  • To supervise the research and analysis performed by project team members
  • To serve as a mentor to junior firm members
  • To commit to his/her own professional development, while supporting that of their colleagues
  • To provide intellectual leadership and analytic guidance for project teams

Part of each working day is devoted to industry-specific business development activities. This candidate will work directly with a Senior Vice President responsible for leading his/her practice area:

  • Introducing Beacon to new clients
  • Working with junior staff to maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive database of client relationships
  • Identifying new engagement and business development opportunities within his/her practice area
  • Developing, writing, and presenting engagement proposals
  • Maintaining a full schedule of meetings with clients and potential clients

The other half of each working day is focused on project delivery. Directors are assigned to multiple projects, managing multiple consultants and clients simultaneously. Specifically, Beacon Directors are responsible for ensuring daily progress of client engagements and for regularly interacting with team members:

  • Leading one to four project teams on six to eight week engagements
  • Supervising primary research with market participants
  • Facilitating daily team meetings/interactions
  • Prioritizing research needs and assignments; set and maintain expectations with project teams
  • Supporting project teams with advice, suggestions, and constructive feedback
  • Maintaining day-to-day deliverables to ensure timely client receipt of updated documents
